Cabaret Poe

Hello all!

I know this has nothing to do with cupcakes/cakes/chocolates/etc, BUT, I have to help promote my local business/artist friends!

There is a show running thru October called Cabaret Poe, and I'm just going to go ahead and put it out there, that EVERYONE should go see it! It's a fantastically fun and creative show!

I will leave links for the promo video, (which was done by my friends over at Green Sky Video) and the link to the website.

GO SEE IT!

My First Big Wedding!

This weekend I had my first big wedding! It went really well!

I did cupcakes, a cake and truffles for her candy bar. By the way, I think candy bars are a really neat way to do favors for your guests. The couple had all kinds of goodies for their guests to choose from, monogrammed candy bars, suckers, M&M's, truffles (mine!) and other delicious treats. I did Red Velvet, White Almond and Kahlua cupcakes, a Chai cake and Chocolate truffles.

Overall, everything went swimmingly! Only mishap was with the cake topper...I know, bad news, right? While bringing the box with the topper in it inside the venue, which by the door was like a wind-tunnel, the box went flying into the railing! Not cool! But, got it all fixed up and on it's home atop the cake. So, all was good!

Now, being that I can almost never remember to bring my camera on deliveries, I again forgot to grab it. But, I did get some pictures before I left of the cupcakes!

So, have a Sweet Ass day and enjoy!

Deliciousness

Hellooooo!

If you didn't know, I am on vacation in Hawaii visiting family. I have been trying to try new foods and treats, ones that I haven't tried before. It's not as easy as it sounds! You would think there are all kinds of local bakeries, dives and diners to try and there are, they are just not that easy to find.

This time, I found a coffee shop/club/deli of sorts in Honolulu called the Fresh Cafe. What caught my attention, as my mom and I were stuck trying to find way throough back roads due to what can only be described as a HUGANTIC traffic jam, was the beautiful mural painted on the front of the building. Then I noticed the cute and plentiful outdoor seating and that there was a sign for espresso, my crack if you will. So, today, before hitting up the Honolulu Zoo, my sister, nephew, mother and I went to try the place out. It was delicious! Great sandwiches, coffee and CUPCAKES! They have a couple, from what I gather, suppliers of cupcakes. Cupcakers, like me, selling their goodies to the hungry public tummy. One local cupcakery, called 'Rise Up Cakes' bakes locally and vegan-ly. Another, (the cupcake I tried, I can't resist chocolate) was 'Frosted.' Let me tell you, it was fantastic! A very moist chocolate cake with a fantastically velvety vanilla buttercream icing. It went perfectly with my hand tamped creamy mocha.
Check them out!

WTF is Mochi???

This would be Mochi Ice Cream. Crazy looking, I know! But it's deliciuos!

I couldn't get the pics I took to upload, so this is a random one I found, just to show you what they look like. I tried one of these little play-doh looking things yesterday, while on vacation here in Hawaii, and it was pretty good! Mochi is a rice dough, and there were all kinds of little desserts they made with it. These have ice cream or gelato in the middle.

My question is, how the hell do they make them!? Just another thing for me to ponder.

A great day of baking!

Spent the afternoon at Indy's Kitchen making A BUNCH of samples! Some red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese icing and, of course, CAKEBITES!

The kitchen is fantastic and Linda, one of the owners, is super nice. It was a lot of fun and was so great to have such an abundant amount of space!

I'll be headed back next month for some big things, and I can't wait!
